Alright boys and girls,
I got into Hoi An in Vietnam about an hour or two ago but my last few days have been pretty packed (hence no updates). Left Luang Prabang in Laos on the 5th at 8am and arrived into Hanoi (capital of Vietnam) on the 6th at 11.30pm, so bit of a marathon. I almost got turned away at the border because i couldnt find a stamp in my passport to confirm when id entered Laos. This is due to the fact that i got my passport wet when tubing in Luang Prabang, apparently despite a university education i cant tell the difference between rolling a drybag up 3 times or 4. Found the faded stamp eventually so no problem in the end. Hanoi was really cool, there are markets absolutely everywhere and the area itself is very lively.Checked out the museum of ethnology, the lenin monument and ho chi minhs mausoleum complex, all of which are well worth seeing. Then spent the last couple of days in Hue, and went on a big tour all round there, including going through the tunnels that were used in the vietnam war, and seeing all the demilitarised zone between what was North and South Vietnam. Its pretty incredible to look at the area and see the clear impact that the war has had on the landscape and society. Sorry you didnt get to see this Avery as you would have loved it. Hue itself wasnt too much to shout about but managed to find a place to play pro in the evening and somewhere to watch the united game so no probs there!
Meeting quite a few people out here, travelling with a lad called Simon at the moment who knows his footy so we are getting on well. All being well i'll be leaving on the 20th from Bangkok and back in blighty on 21st/22nd. Still got Saigon in Vietnam and then Phnom Penn and Siem Riep in Cambodia to do before then so i'll do my best to keep you all updated with whats going on. Hope everyone is good and that you all miss me bigtime.
