Hey guys,
just got back from the trecking and thought i would take this opp to say hello. Ian havin a well earned shower and i will soon be following!! The last three days have easily been the best so far. Not only is chang mai wicked but the treck was one of the most amazing things i have ever done. We started off by gettin pocked up in the back of this truck that looked a bit unstable but that seems to be classed as safe round here and we took a 2 hour trip up into the jungle. On the way we got to talk to some of the people that we were going to be spending the next couple of days with, and they were all exceptionally sound. we had four yanks, two chilians, two french canadians (winnet you would have well fancied one of them, we will try hook you up, no promises) and they all spoke exceptional english, yeah even the Americans!
We statreted off with the elephant ride 0ich was absolutuly out of this world, the most amazing creatures, and that lasted for aboute the whole morning. we then treked up the mountain for three hours in the jungle heat which quite honestly nearly killed us. Even the experienced hikers in nthe group were saying it was a really hard walk!. It was worth it when we got to the top and saw we were stayin the night with a tribal village, anhd the view from our bamboo hut was breath taking. we had a night eating the best food cooked by some villagers and drinking beer by the camp fire.
the next day was easier just the four hour trek but not all of it was up hill!! We stopped only twice by these most beautiful water falls for a quick swim, it was honestly like paridise. we spent the night at another village hut, where the people were even more welcoming and in the morning we went white water rafting and then on bamboo rafts down the river while we sunbathed. Was well funny, ian fell in during the white water rafting and got absolutely soaked, and then fell in during the bamboo rafting! At least it was not me for once......
anyway got to go, we are going out tonight in chang mai for a few beers with the Americans and hopefully the chilians so need to get ready. (Cokeham you know how long it takes me)
Anyway take care of yourself people.
