No word of a lie, that picture is exactly what the beach i was led on all afternoon looked like!! The sand is whiter then me and softer then a feather pillow and the sea is the bluest blue you'll ever see. It really is pictute perfect, the image of paradise, the picture they put on a perfect postcard.
So we arrived on Wednesday evening into Stonetown. We stayed in Jambo Guest house which was rather nice. And the showers were warm without even turning on the hot tap! Mmm warm showers, something i havent had for 2 months now.
After we had freashened up we headed out into Stontown. Its a intruiguing little place. The streets and so small you would fit a car down and really winding. The locals drive their little piki piki's (small moterbikes) down the alleys at a good 30 mph or more it was a wonder we didnt get hit at times the way they flew round the corners. We then decided to go to forodhani gardens which is the most amazing food market right on the water edge of stonetown. Its in some beautiful gardens and theres are lots of different tables with different foods, you select the food that you want to try and the chefs then cook in for you infront of it and you then eat it. I decided to try alsorts. I tried Octopus, lobster, kingfish, fish cakes, zanzibar pizza, banana and chocolate pizza and sugarcane juice which is amazing and anyone with a sweet tooth would love! And all of this i ate for less then a fiver!
Next day did a bit of the old shopping in Stonetown which is really good for touristy souveniers which Mwanza wasnt so good for. Then headed up to Nungwi on a shuttle bus whici we managed to get for 5500 tsh which is a rather good price. Took just over an hour to get there and as soon as we arrived at Paradise Lodge we dumped and bags in our rooms and walk out of our door on to the most amaaaazing beach!
Spent the afternoon sunbathing and swimming the sea which is so amazingly warm! Then me and Keleigh decided to get ourselves a massage which we managed to get for just 10000 each for a 1 hour full body massage that equivalates to 5 GBP. And it was soooooo worth way more then that!
That evening we spent sat on the beach having a lovely meal and drinking some Konyagi the local spirit. We then led on the beach and looked and the stars and paddled in the sea.
The next morning we got up ate breakfast looking out over the sea and then boarded a boat to coral reef snorkeling! It took around 2 hours to get to the coral reef on the boat. We sat on the roof of the boat and even got to see a school of dolphins on our way. We dropped off our cook at another beach about half an hour away from the island so he could cook our meal and we then went to the coral. The coral is right next to the most amazing island which we couldnt go on as it was privatly owned!
The coral reef was amazing. It was huge although so of it was so shallow you couldnt really swim in it and you would cut yourself most of us tried and came out with a few grazes on the coral. I saw so many different fish most of which i will reference from Finding Nemo, loads of Dorys, a parrot fish, the fish with the scar down it minus the scar, star fish, octopus, little fish, big fish, cardboard box, long fish with a big nose, striping fish. Though i never actually found nemo. Hopefully hes ok.
We snorkeled for around an hour. Then went back on the boat and me and Grace decided to jump off the roof of the boat before we left which was so much fun! We then went to the beach for our lunch which was lovely, fish rice and fruit. We then sunbathed for around half an hour and then went back to Nungwi.
When we got back i said goodbye to the girlies:( and got a shuttle bus back to Stonetown where i spent another night in Jambo and was rather sick with sun stroke:(.
