So i'm here! Have been now for 5 weeks! Cant believe how unbelieveably fast it is going, its unreal, when you say 2 months in African you think gosh thats a long time but its really not.
I'm here to teach the 43 boys that live at Kuleana Street Children centre. They are all amazing! I teach the younger boys (standard 1) in the morning mainly maths and English and i teach slightly older boys (Standard 2 and 3) in the afternoon as they go to school in the morning. I am also teaching some of the boys how to play guitar and sing and its amazing how fast they are picking it up they are bless with natural rythum!
Its amazing how now i feel like i am a mother to the 43 boys here, i am so proud of them when they do well at school, i want a picture of them when they look smart, i worrie about them when their sick, and i ask them where they think i keep my money tree when they ask me for sodas everyday. I love it!
I have also been to the Serengeti and Ngorgora Crater a few weeks ago. Was one of the most amazing times of my life. We spent 3 days there. We were just feet away from a lion and lioness, a herd of elephants with the tiniest little baby, giraffes etc etc. And even when it poured down at night when we were in the Ngorgora and we realised that our tent wasnt water proof when we woke up at midnight and we were drenched it was still all good because we spent the night in the chefs hut round the nice warm stove eating pancakes and tea!!
It was my birthday last Saturday, the big 2-0 booo, not a teenager anymore. But what better way to spend it then in Africa? Would have been nice to have the fam and friends here to but was still an amazing day. I turned 20 whilst watching the most amazing African thunderstorm on our porch and drinking god awful wine. We went and sun bathed in the morning at a hotel here and then went to the centre to have a full on birthday party with all the boys. We had a disco, pass the parcel, musical bumps etc etc and the other girls here who are volunteering even arranged a cake for me, that Prisca from the restaurant attached to Kuleana cooked for me it even had my name on:).
Me and the other girls here have just booked to go to Zanzibar for 4 nights at the end of March! Just google it now and hate me for how lucky i am :). Cant wait will be lovely and after that its off to Oz on 3rd April!
Will be so sad to leave the boys at the centre and all the amazing people i have met here but the nat adventure must go on, there are many more amazing places, things and people for me to see!
Love and miss you all!
