So i have finally reached my last destination in Oz, Cairns.
I have literally had to shoot up from Brisbane on the Greyhound but admitedly i have seen some beautiful things along the way.
My first stop after Brissy was Noosa which i absolutly loved. Once again thanks to Hostels.com (i adore that website!) i managed to find a little gem of a hostel (not really a hostel more like a holiday home). Melaluka cost me $28 a night which is the going rate for any hostel in Noosa, your looking at about a 6-8 bed dorm in any other hostel, but at Melaluka i got... MY OWN ROOM!!!!!!!! Its a bloody luxury when you've spent 3 months sharing with other people i tell you! It was amazing i had my own room in a apartment that is meant to accomadate 5 people but it was just me and 1 other person which i couldnt believe (this place was amazing) yes it was about 45 min walk from town but theres not alot in the town so 1 day there and your all done if that, but it was a mere 1 minute walk from the beautiful Sunshine beach! Its yet another white sand, blue sea beach but it was not crowded at all if you want to sun bath with no one around merely walk 30 meters down the beach away from the life guards and there you go your own private spot. After a month of moving from hostel to hostel getting up and rushing to see different things everyday this was really what i needed it actually felt like i was on holiday!
My next stop was Rainbow beach sadly on my way there on the greyhound as we were pulling into the service station we saw a very big car accident unravel infront of our eyes and it was not nice at all. A lorry hit a car which flew into a lamp post. There were 2 nurses on board who went to help but sadly the man in the car died before the ambulance had arrived. I have never seen a car accident before and it was truely horrific and to be so far away from home and everyone i loved made it even worse. As you can imagine since then the homesickness had increased. We carried on after a 2 hour detour to get round the crash to Rainbow beach on a now silent bus.
I had stopped in Rainbow Beach for the compulsary Fraser Island visit, if your doing the east coast its as good as a sin to miss it. I stayed at Pippies its a pretty little hostel nice and chilled out and the lady that runs it is lovely however the other travellers who work there do often look severlly depressed when they serve you on reception. I only had time for a day trip to fraser but still i got to see it and it was sooo worth it! Also with the day trips you get to go to the famous Lake Mackensie and its definately not to be missed. The most beautiful white sand crystal clear lake and its such a lovely swim! We also got to go and see the washed up ship reck that sits on the sand right next to the ocean and Eli Creek which you can walk all the way through its crystal clear knee deep water however sadly it was raining rather heavily at that point:(.
Shall finish later...
