So i have now reached Birsbane, i have now been here for a week and i shall leave tomorrow morning to head to Noosa.
I left Byron in the evening on some day last week or something i cant even remember, days dont mean a thing when your travelling the only days you remember is when you have a flight. My last day i spent hanging out with Lara my new found friend i met in Port Macquarie and we seem to be following each other up the East coast. We hung out on the beach grabbed an ice cream took a walk to a beautiful look out and watch some surfing.
I then decided to trek all the way up to Byron bay lighthouse to watch the sunset. My god was it a trek and half! I literally stopped about 10 times red faced puffing my way up to the top of this hill to get to this damn light house. I reached the most easterly point of Australia and thought maybe this is far enough up you know? But i decided to trek on when some runners came running past like it was the easiest thing they'd ever done and looked at me as if to say ha the english a bit of sun and some exercise and their on their death bed. Anyway i go to the top and it was the most amazing veiw of the sunset! Right over Byron bay and the ocean seriously worth the effort. I then ofcourse had to walk down easy peasy i though until it got pitch black there was no one around and i couldnt remember the way back to town...nice one nigel... lucky i bumped into some German girls who pointed me in the right direction and i legged it back for my bus to Surfers Paradise.
I spent 2 nights in Surfers it was a beautiful place with a gourgous beach and some alright shops but when you have no money they are no fun. So i spent my days on the beach sun bathing and reading and watching the sunset...its a hard life! The hostel i stayed at was cool, 14 shared dorm and 1 toliet not so but they had nights out everynight which was cool. Went out on my last night there and met some cool people inparticularly a girl who was not sure where she was from as she lived all over the world all her life and her accent changed every 5 minutes was funny. We went to one bar and it was very exciting so decided to leave and go to a bar with live music with some locals. I'd only had a few glasses of goon (the cheapest and s***test wine you will every taste but what all backpackers have to drink as its cheap) but as we walked outside it was raining we decided to make a run for it and we were both saying how we couldnt wait to see one of the girls in their high heals slip over, as we got to the bottom of the steps and Conner (yes that was the girl from no where inparticulars name, and yes she too admited her parents had been quite tight) was just saying how her flipflops were new and she didnt know if they'd grip in the rain and as soon as she finished that sentence my flip flops slipped and i landed flat on my ass. I was surprised at how little it hurt however in the morning when i sat down i realised i may had had a little more goon then i had thought...ouch.
So now i am in Brissy staying at Base hostel which is actually really nice and i'm only paying $20 a night thanks to hostels.com annnnd i got upgraded to a 6 bed dorm instead of a 10 bed woop woop! I've met Lara here my new dutch friend who i met in Port Macquarie. It is nice after a few weeks of travelling on my own to have someone who you know will me around for more then just a few days.
Theres some pretty cool things here we went to the free Art Galarie and saw some funky art and hat display from the guy who makes the hats for SJP and Sex and the city. We also got to make our own hats which was really meant for 10 year olds but we thought we'd try our hand and i think we did quite well, take that kids:P.
Weve also visited Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary a must do if you visit Brisbane. We got to hold a Koala which was pretty cool although it did seem quite cruel as we were queueing and this poor Koala was being passed from one tourist to the next. They are really soft and squigey though you do have to watch out for those claws! We also got to hand feed Kangaroos which was cool but slightly scary when you get that close to them you realise what damage they could do with their huge claws!
We also went out for the night down to the down under bar which was underneath our hostel. Got some cheap beers and i met one of the guys who was on 'The best job in the world show'. Lara also met a rather funny drunk Irish guy. She couldnt understand what he was saying so brought him over to me so that i could decode it, however i didnt have a clue what he was saying as he was far to irish and far to drunk to make out a word and she couldnt understand how i couldnt understand him when we were speaking the same language lol i did however manage to get his name and that seemed to be enough for them to carry the conversation on haha...;)
Next i'm off to Noosa sadly i have to leave Lara behind as she hopes to get a job here but once again the adventure must go on!
