Cairns is brilliant. The weather is awesome, 35 degrees everyday and sun always shining. The tans are coming along nicely! We've agreed a deal "in principal" for a Nissan 4x4 jeep with some Belgians - it's a mean machine! We're meeting the people tomorrow morning at 11:00 to finalise the deal! Fingers crossed they turn up and don't muck us about - they seemed OK though so hopefully no problems. It's costing us $5500 which is about 2700 quid back home. We've also acquired a couple of buddies for the road trip as well, Mirco (a German 24 year old lad who's as mad as a hatter!) and Simon, an Italian lad in his 30's. Both of them our staying in our dorm - we're staying in a place called Gilligans which is really good. It costs us 12 quid a night which isn't too bad. We haven't dived yet but will do when we set-off in the car - I think we're going to go just south of Cairns and do it. We're also going to go to Fraser Island and stay there for a few nights. You can get quad bikes there and just drive around the island, it sounds brilliant.
My hair is getting really long but I'm not going to get it cut - I think I'll just get a band or something to keep it out of my moosh! Butts' afro is coming along nicely - he had a haircut here the other day but didn't get much taken off. Am not sure if we've lost weight or not. We only eat 1 meal a day normally but drink enough scooners (Aussie equivalent of a pint but is about 3 quarters of a pint) to compensate for the calories not consumed by food! Chow for now, Dan
