Hola!
We're currently in Penang staying in Georgetown which is 'OK' and apparently backpacker central but doesn't seem to be too frantic. It's pretty same same here and every street is similar. First day here (yesterday) we went to Penang Hill which had some pretty good views but nothing to shout about. In the afternoon we went to the Queensbay Mal which put to shame any of the shopping mals back home and I bought some clobber to replace what I've had nicked! Today we went to a beach on the north of the island, Batu Ferringhi, and got burnt... so plenty of aftersun before bed ce soir. We leave for Kuala Lumpar tomorrow morning, 5:30am to be precise so an early night tonight. We're travelling by boat for a bit and then by train for 7 hours but we're travelling first class so it should be interesting! It cost us 50 ringgit each for the trip, a tenner back home.
Rewinding a few days back to Koh Samui, our last day there was good. We went fishing in a man made fresh water later with fish the size of over 100 kilo's in there! Me and Butts had a competition - winner catches most fish and reward is a bucket courtesy of the loser. Butts caught 4 and me 3. The wee-man got his bucket but I feel I was hard done by as I caught the only 20 kilo carp of the day, surely worth 2-3 fishes?! Anyhow the locals seemed impressed! All the fish we caught gave a good fight and took about 5 minutes to real in after initially taking the bait. Got some great photos that I'll post soon.
