A few hours before we leave for Manchester Airport. Will attempt to write a daily blog and put on some photos to keep those at home updated - technology and my "expertise" allowing! A couple of hours ago received kit delivery - nothing like cutting it fine. Due to complications of Adidas logistical chain, our new short sleeve shirts are navy blue - and we will be receiving (now) long sleeved purple shirts when we get back! Many thanks to Brian, Niomi's dad, for sponsoring the kit - the Piranha Hair Studio looks good Brian! Also thanks to Abbie's mum and Grandma for the £150 from your raffles - and heard today we will get £20 from your cakes also! Lifts to and from the airport from parents are also much appreciated!
The Girls will be playing in 3 triangular tournaments - against Club teams (not sure if the ywill be older than us) and also against the national Malta team (think they will be a bit younger, but no doubt technically very good). The games have been kindy arranged by the Malta FA. They will be on Friday, Monday and Tuesday evening - and followed by a get together.
The heat is likely to be a major factor and quite demanding - our kit supplier told me that he had just spoken to the Yorkshire water polo manager - who was ther 2 weeks ago, and he said it was too hot for water polo!!!! Apparently, the temperature has dropped a few degrees since then. The games are only 30 minutes each (ie 60 minutes total). Will do our best to keep the Girls covered up (or at least wearing good sunblock) and out of sun on hottest part of the day!!
Jet and I have been liasing with Sheffield United's Marketing Director - the Blades are in Malta on a pre-season camp.Dave (we're on first name terms now) has invited us to come to training on Sunday evening at the national stadium and on Wednesday evening we are hoping to watch them play a game against Hiberians FC (Jet would never forgive us for missing out on such an opportunity).
Really looking forward to it - must go, as Gill will be thinking that I should be doing something more "useful"!
