Day Three
Late start to the day trying to get over the day before. A bit of a drizzly day but 28C. Caught the Metro to Arlington Cemetry which covers 250 hectares and has over 400,000 graves of US serviceman and family going back to the Civil War, and the Kennedy family.
We saw the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier-naturally it's very formal and well drilled. Very quiet except for the noise made by Spanish tourists.
This is a big place. We were there about three hours and only saw half of it. Feeling pretty stuffed and called it an early day (after a night cap at the hotel bar)
Day Four
This was supposed to a fairly easy day. We decided to tackle some of the Smithsonian centres (American History Museum, Natural History Museum, and the Aeronautical and Space Museum.) These places are huge and we spent as much as possible at each. AHM was the best. We ran out gas after 7 hours and decided to give the National Archive (Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights) a miss.
Hoping that the AFL Grand Final is on ESPN. It starts at 12.30am so we may stay up and watch it.
