A small entry needs to added for Sweet Mother's Kitchen in Wellington. Cajan/Mexican food, a big breakfast to defeat the most heartened big breakfest eater and Huavas Rancheros. Delicious. Funky wee place too.
Between eating (which also included other establishments such as Fidel's on Cuba Street - best potato hashbrowns ever, and the General Practitioner (your prescription is "beer", take two and call me in the morning)) we checked out Te Papa and said hello to the resident colossuel squid (aka "Squidy").
They say you can't beat Wellington on a good day - well we somehow managed to have two beautiful days in Wellingon without the wind and complete with sunshine. Stunning! The waterfront is what a waterfront should be. Lots of room to promenade, odd bridges and walkways to meander and space to fill with artistic things. Sun also heaps.
Oh, and Alice Bar - always deserves a mention for its trippy bar design. One side of the bar makes you feel really really tall and the other side of the bar makes you feel really really short. Plus an absinth cocktail served in a teapot really adds to the effect. Good fun!
Thank you Anna for acting as guide for the bars (and for breakfast) and for Franklin the cat and his love for my jandels.
