Scamble crossing. Where about 8 different roads meet next to a busy train station in the middle of the city.
Shopping in Tokyo is quite hectic with the crowds and music blasting at you.
Kristen took me to meiji jingu shrine in the middle of Tokyo which was a quiet beautiful green space in a city of grey chaos. On the way in there were barrels of wine/alcohol lining the pathway from different parts of the world.
Shiho had booked a beautiful Japanese restaurant on the 42nd floor (En, in Shiodome) with views over Tokyo bar. We had a stunning dinner of sashimi (raw snapper, tuna, fatty tuna etc) which was so fresh and came with wasabi root and a grater so you grate your own. We also has eggplant with miso paste, pork, asparagus and tempura. The food here is incredible and so light.
Shiho then took us to Conrads which had a bar on the 28th floor with views over the water. Good thing we were dressed up as it was a rather flash establishment. I have been very fortunate on this leg of the trip to have residents of Tokyo take me to these places as left to my own devices I wouldnt have experienced half of these things.
After a nightcap and some chocolates from Conrads, Kristen and I went to an izakaya to meet up with her friends after their game of futsol (football with slightly diferent rules). This izakaya was a private room where we had to take our shoes off and had an electronic pad to place our orders (or you could just open the door and yell 'sumi masen'). I love the variety of food you can order and how it is all placed in the middle of the table for everyone to share. Its such a cool way to go for a drink. You still drink a heap as the beers are about ¥200 (say $3) and have a heap of tasty food.
Big kareoke night tonight!
