Delos was on the agenda today. Delos is a little uninhabited island SW of Mykonos and takes about 30 mins on the boat to get to. Delos was sacred as it was the birthplace if Apollo and lends its position as the sacred centre to the name of the group of islands (the Cyclades, as they form a loose circle around Delos). Delos is covered in the ruins of ancient Greece and some additions added by the Romans in later times. You can wander around the island through the ruins and see columns, parts of temples and houses and statues. Its a quiet place to reflect.
It has to be said, Mykonos would beat Wellington for wind factor. I had my legs sandblasted today a few times and the boat trip to Delos was a tad uncomfortable-not as bad a the boat to White Island but certainly gave it a run for its money. For the record, I did not feed the fishes.
We spent the afternoon in Mykonos town and found a beautiful cafe hidden away in a garden square. It was one of those places you simply wouldnt know is there without going in.
As it was our last night in Mykonos, and Greece for that matter we put in some quality time by the pool, beach and in the sun, and rounded it off with a meal at a local restaurant with, again, Mykonos table wine.
