After our burst of energy on day 1 jet lag hit us all with a vengance on day 2 so we have had a more sedate day today.
Bridget and John P visited several markets in the morning for some retail therapy whilst the Woodies were confined to barracks to allow Sue to recover from a spot of Dehli Belly. Meanwhile the Pardons slotted in some visits to the markets for more retail therapy also managing to fit in a trip on the tram to the Peak. The Pardons visit somewhat marred by a half hour queue for the tram with standing room only when the actually got onto it. Moral of the story - if you are in Hong Kong make a visit to the Peak your frst agenda item of the day noting that the observation platform does not open until 10 am
Feeling the need to take things more gently in the afternoon the Davey's and Woods visited Hong Kong park. This proved to be an enjoyable afternoon visiting the aviary seeing many different avian species and the conservatory where many different plant types were on display. The very best thing about this was that all of the attractions here were free admission. Hong Kong park is an oasis in what is a very busy city, set on a hillsite the planners have made use of the natural contours to develop some stunning water features, this is worth a visit if you have the time and want to relax.
And then a shift of gear, the evening event was a visit to one of the tourist traps in Hong Kong, the Jumbo floating restaurant. We had read mixed reviews and I guess our experience was similar. I personally thought the experience was good, the food was ok, some I liked some I did not whereas for John P the experience rated 0 out of 10. I guess the Jumbo floating restaurant did not quite match up to his Seabourn standards. I would recommend a visit but go with an open mind :-)
On return from the Jumbo we decided that there was a need to the hotel bar for more red wine. John D and Dave W were last men standing so we celebrated with a brandy before retiring to our respective rooms at midnight.
