Flying from Manchester to Abu Dhabi with Etihad (Airbus A330) was pretty good and the on board service in economy was on par with other major middle/far east carriers. The only downside was my seat, 31A, which was supposedly a window seat but alas all I had was a grey wall to look at for nearly seven hours. I must log this with the SeatGuru website which did not flag this up this problem when I selected the seat when making my booking. It was then a good job the on demand movie selection was big enough to keep me entertained at 39,000ft so the spy/action flick 'Kingsman' starring Colin Firth and Samuel L Jackson was up first and powerful docu-film 'Selma' about Martin Luther King Jr and the right to vote in America was my second selection. I enjoyed both of these films in very different ways. The flight however passed fairly quickly with lunch being served about two hours into the journey. The chicken forestiere with potatoes and carrots was tasty plus the side dish of pasta and a dessert of blueberry cheesecake with a glass of red was ample for me. Our routing out of Manchester had us passing Amsterdam, Budapest, Bucharest, then over north east Turkey and then after skirting Iraq we headed down to Abu Dhabi. Despite a slightly delayed departure from Manchester flight EY16 touched down about ten minutes early in the UAE. I have to be honest I am not that impressed with Abu Dhabi airport, or at least not the bits I have seen. It is all very clean and fresh but there seems to be very limited food options in the smallish 'food village' and even though the duty free seems to sell all the major and high end brands it is not a patch on Dubai. I understand they have expansion plans that will I am sure be impressive. Anyway, time to think about the next flight I guess departing for Melbourne. Hopefully I will be able to at least see a window on this next flight operated by a Boeing 777. Australia here I come!

Sweeney Todd. Having no window would drive me mad I would not be able to stick it, even for just seven hours flight time with films. Anyway good to see you had a smile on your face. Good luck with the next flight. Next time don't book a seat with an "A" in it.
Andy Holt No window was not good. I even checked in advance on the 'seat guru' website and I do not recall this being mentioned. At least all the other flights were 'with window'
