You certainly do feel like you are a long way south when you get to Ushuaia, the last town of Argentina before you hit the South Atlantic Ocean and the last stop before you reach Antarctica too!
Ushuaia would be where we board our ship to take us through the Beagle Channel to Punta Arenas in Chile with a stop, hopefully, at Cape Horn. Before we joined the boat there was however enough time to visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park enjoy the most southerly railway in the world, visit an Estancia, look for beavers and take afternoon tea on a mountain top overlooking Ushuaia. There was certainly plenty to keep us occupied for a few days before setting sail.
We had to stay in two different hotels in Ushuaia as sadly our favoured hotel (Tierra de Leyandas) only had accommodation for the first two nights in the town so we had to move for the third night to the Hotel Los Nires which was OK, but certainly not as good as our first place.
Having enjoyed our time in Ushuaia it was soon time to board our ship for a three night trip to Chile which was advertised as an Expedition Cruise so there would not be any sun loungers or pools on this ship.
