Sunday 23/06/13
On Sunday I went to watch some of the guys from AIESEC play rugby. It was very hot and the other team was a bit bgger than them. But all money went to the local rugby club, to improve it.
I sat with ricardo and some others and then met Emma, a girl from the UK who has just arrived, and her boyfriend Steven.
It was funny watching the guys warm up, as it was so hot. I ave literally no idea how they managed it. After 15 mins of playing, Iain looked like he was gonna pass out. They all had scraped arms and legs from tackling.
Back at the restaurant I had fish for lunch, which was really nice, and after that, alejandra took me on her Moped and we went to hers to get bikinis sorted. As I was getting on, I accidently kicked the side (because it's higher than a motorbike) and managed to bruise my leg. It was quite a kick.
Alejandra's house is very different to Ricardos. She sleeps on bunk beds and her room has a metal roof (it gets very hot) and I think she lives in a slightly poorer area. Her mum was very nice.
We got picked up by Ricardo and then his dad drove us to this place in the Mounatins. It was about 45 mins away. On the way there we were joined by ricardo's friends and they followed us in their car. I saw a little street dog that had been caught by one of the cars. It was so sad. But here there are so many dogs around, I'm surprised I ahven't seen more.
My bites ( the mosquitos discovered I'd arrived the previous night) were so bad. They go all up my legs,). Not sure if my protection spray works. When we got there, we pulled into the side of the road and climbed down the hillside to the river. Then we walked over the stones on the river (I slipped... I would do) and got to this mini waterfall thing, beyond the mini one, behind some rocks is a bigger waterfall, that is almost like a slide. The water was very cold and me, ricardo and alejandra slid down the waterfall. It was great fun. It's all naturally made too, which is amazing. Very quickly it got dark, it does here because we are near the equator. And we headed back up the hillside and sat in a wooden hut. It's like a cafe but a wooden hut with a fire off to oneside to heat stuff up. It felt very traditional. The light kept flickering because of the difficulty getting electricity there or something. I had agua de paneda con queso. That's basically sweetened water with feta(sort of) cheese on the side, which you cut up and put in th water. They have cheese with weird stuff here. It was a really nice evening :)
