I arrived in Sydney on a Monday Morning at 9:30am it was such a buzz, even tho I didnt sleep on the plane, everyone was just so excited to get to Sydney!! We were all a bit nervous about Australian immigration and our bank statement but they didn't even ask and we were straight through customs :). When we got outside out rep from Bunac met us and got us to the bus. The bus was hilarious it was so old fashioned and it had like a crappy old trailer for our bags! The driver looked about 100 years old too. But he was really funny and really Australian! when we got to the hostel we didn't make the same mistake as Hong Kong and kinda realised that out rooms probs wouldn't be ready for a while...we were right, it was 10:40am and the room would be ready at 2pm. It wasn't a problem though, it was a beautiful day so we jumped straight on the bus to Bondi beach!! By the time we got there it had clouded over a bit so and Bondi was no where near as big as we all assumed it would be! So at first I was a bit disappointed with it, but we found a spot and just chilled for a bit, I don't usually like the beach but I have to admit it was a really nice atmosphere, really chilled and lovely and hot! We decided to head back to the room about 4pm ish! So we'd spent the whole day there without really meaning to :) on the bus on the way back to the hotel I was really tired and I think I actually felt my head drop a couple of times lol! When we got off the bus to walk back to the hostel it started to rain!! I could let believe it! 1st day in Australia and it rains!! It was a warm rain though and was just light really so not that bad! I went straight to sleep as soon as I got back, I was meeting the group at 7 for dinner so only had about an hour and I slept for a bit but not long. I just ended up in an American style diner for dinner which was fine, afterwards a few of us decided to go for a drink, some of the group hadn't had any sleep so they went back. After an Irish bar we went back to the hostel and saw that we had a bar right underneath us! It was really good in there and the first person I met was from Newcastle, Australia which I loved!! I still had an early night because I was still a bit tired from the flight. So first day in Australia was amazing. I think the city has a really good buzz about it, I like it :) I got up really early to Skype home on the second day, so was nice to be sitting having breakfast in the sun when I spoke to Mark and Mam & Dad! Lol! We had this orientation meeting all about where to go travelling and best ways find a job, which I thought was only guna last a couple of hours but actually it was alllllll day! :o yawn! It did give me a lot to think about thought, like where to go and when and what type of job to get. As it was the last night in the hostel we decided to all go out together as we'd probably all go different ways after we all move hostels. Anyway I wanted to get accommodation sorted to Zoe and I looked online for somewhere and found this place that had 86% good reviews...i didn't want to use my bank card and wanted to see the place before we Booked so me and Zoe agreed to go have a look and maybe book in, Amie came along too to see whether she should change to stay with us. On the way there we got caught on really heavy rain!!! We got absolutely soaked lol! It wasn't cold though so wasn't like getting caught in the rain at home, however when we got on the bus back the air con was still on so was freezing!! Anyway we saw the hostel and the guy was really friendly and it seemed ok, so we paid out deposit. Our night out was really good we just went to the place downstairs from the hostel, it was karaoke night. I was definitely watching my drink, I do NOT know these people well enough to inflict me karaoke singing on them! Lol! We then went to an Irish bar and danced until 3 in the morning, it was really good! I even had chips and garlic sauce on way home!! :)) yum! I didn't drink that much and had a few soft drinks towards the end of the night so think that along with the chips made sure I wasn't hungover! We had to check out at 10am, so headed down for breakfast at about 9, a few people were suffering which is always funny when ur ok! Zoe and I made our way over to our new hostel, it was a really easy journey on the bus so we were fine with our backpacks. We got there however and checked into the room...then we were not fine :( the room was mingin! There was so much crap on the floor u couldn't see the carpet! Is was a 6bed room, and there were two girls there when we arrived. One was asleep and the was on her laptop. We got chat to her, she was French and when we asked how long she'd been there she said too long and didn't actually say how long she been there!! So we dumped our stuff and went out. As soon as we were down the street we both said we couldn't stay there!! But we had already paid for 5nights!! I said we should stay there 1 night and then say we had jobs or something so we had to move! So when we got to town we went to book into another hostel, and this time asked to see the room first! It was much nicer to we called the hostel to say we were leaving could we get our money back, and he said that's fine! We straight away felt better and just agreed to stay out as late as possible to avoid having to go back :) I had been in Sydney 3 days now and still hadn't seen the harbour bridge or the opera house!! So we headed in that direction! The opera house was really nice and so was the Bridge I really my to go out to on the water to see it tho,I don't think you get the best of it from the harbour. Me and Zoe went for a proper meal and a bottle of wine on the harbour it was amaze!! Loved it! We spent quite a bit by then so we didn't wanna go out but we managed to stay out quite late to avoid the mingin hostel! We got in and went straight to sleep! It was not a very nice sleep...no air con, 6 other girls in the room and 1 girl that was ill, bah! In the morning I woke up and had a baby wipe shower and got out of there ASAP!! Then all we did was wait around for out room to be ready!!
So were in the new hostel now and the girls are really nice I really like them theres a Canadian, an Irish, an Aussie, a chinese, an American and a welsh! Lol! I'm just about to go to sleep now and I feel a million times better than last night, the air con is a bit cool tho, again totally diff from last night!lol! I've got Mark's hoodie though and it's a good excuse to wear it,It smells lush, just like our bathroom at home :)
