Ok! We've actually been doing some things since we wrote last, rather than just sleeping constantly... well ish...On Thursday we went to the zoo, to see all the animals and stuff, y'know, what you generally would do at the zoo. It was a weirdly laid out zoo on a hill, with a cable car ride to the top, on our way down we missed out like a massive chunk of the zoo, because it has a stupid layout, but other than that, and losing Charley for a bit, they day was pretty cool, majorly hot though.
On Friday we went to Manly beach, where we proceeded to act manly. Tried, and looked a bit constipated. The beach was amazingly hot, the sand burnt, the sun beat down its harsh UV rays, and the sea, the sea was ridiculously cold, which really was unexpected. I mean, come on, the sun SHOULD be at least vaguely warming it up right? This excursion resulted in us tasting like salt. Yummm human salt lick.
We did get a bit of warning, where we overheard someone say that ,mkthere was a storm forecast, so we did kind of expect a bit of bad weather, but for some reason, I didn't expect there to be heavy rain here, and for a insane amount of time, it was raining pretty much all day yesterday. Maybe we brought the bad weather with us? So, we did nothing...
...Until the night! Where we went to Luna Park! Which looks so cool on the outside, but not so cool on the inside. It was like an old style fairground, one of those ones where it didn't cost to get in, but the rides cost money individually. This we already knew. However you had to pay for some random ticket thing, which was pretty costly, for unlimited access to certain rides, so we only want to go on the Ferris wheel, and to do that cost $20. Which is bad. So we hung around and absorbed the atmosphere.
Today, we lost an hour of sleep due to day light saving which was probably a good thing as it helped us get up at a more normal time, not like 6am every other morning! So now we are 10 hours ahead. Even though the weather was still a bit rubbish, we decided to go on a beach walk, from Bondi, to Coogee, along the coast. This trip was so hilly, ridiculously hilly. There were hills at the top of hills, hilly stairs up hills, there was just an inexplicable amount of hills. This apparently, is to be expected on such walks, which is obvious as it is a COSTAL WALK, around the coast which is not one straight line. Not a walk along one massively long connected beach, as if it was that it would have been advertised as so and would therefore be famous for it. Die Gary. We've decided that we're going to try to get a hostel in Coogee after we have to leave this one, the town is a lot smaller, quieter, nicer, and greatly less Chinese than the City Centre. Also, major plus point: Coogee has an awesome beach.
Although none of us have been attacked by poisonous animals, we were terrorized on the train back to our hostel, by a big, red, spindly, spiny, spiky, flying, big-eyed bug with a big stinger. It didn't really do anything threatening; it just was above us, and kept moving, or wiggling its antennas, or staring at us, with its big eyes. We have a picture of said bug, and of us being terrorized, if anyone wants to scour the internet to find out whether it was poisonous, by all means, do. Warn us for future reference!
And 'the crazy German guy' Anton just asked if we had added anything about him, so now we have. In our hostel room we have the said German guy who speaks great English and believes that Gary is the Biscuit King. We also have another bloke James, who is English, and snores. So very loudly. There is also Freya, who is English but sounds American due to her lame accent. She is annoying and talks fast. So very fast.
We might go out into Kings Cross tonight which is where loads of clubs and pubs are apparently, but even if we cannot be bothered to venture out we are going to go down to the bar near the Hostel, which looks good. Sunday is meant to be a good night anyway, and seeing as it is Labour Day tomorrow it should be an even bigger night.
And then tomorrow is a blank day mostly, going to get some washing done (because unlike Freya we haven't got so much stuff that we don't need to wash any clothes for two weeks) and then go out for a drink.
