Hello all.
In India at last. I've been here for 4 days now and am beginning to get used to the city already. It's a crazy place though. The streets are certainly an experience. There seems to be no road rules. In fact, it took me a day to figure out which side of the road Indian's actually drive on. The first weekend was spent getting to know the place. Amy, my room mate and fellow voluteer at Dream a Dream, has shown me around the place. It's nice because I thought I was going to be living by myself and my host family.
My house is situated in a great place, right in the centre of town. There is a shopping mall just 5 minutes walk from my house but a near 10 minute journey once you have negotiated the road!
All ready I have had my fair share of curries and feel I'm already starting to get fed up of them. Oh well wil just have to get used to it.
So far I've been to a festival, which was not that great. There wasn't much there. An appalling, but funny rock band. Aawww they tried their best. Before that I met my local representative; Hema. Who is lovely. Also there was Nathan and Zoe who are other gap guru voluteers in Bangalore.
On Sunday we were taken out by Tara, who is Zoe's hostess person (what ever the title is). She took us around Bangalore to the places I hadn't seen already, which was great. We saw the government buildings and the gardens. Both of which need to be explored further by me!
Last night me, Amy and Hayley (who works also for Dream a Dream) went to a great Karaokee club. Where amazingly everybody was pretty good at singing. None of the usual rubbishness. May take me a couple more drinks before I even contemplate singing in front of all those people.
Lots to do and talk about next week. I shall finish this here. There's plenty I have forgotten and I apologise. If I think of anything else I will update you.
Bye H XXX
