monday 29th september - day 39 - hongkong
So the protesters made it through the night and everthings still in full flow today. Roads are still blocked with people. Its reported 10,000 protesters are active across the city with about 1,000 at causeway. Subway station entrances in causeway have been barracaded and covered in signs shaming the police, along with requests for peace, democrcy and the right to protest. We manage to get the 40 bus still to stanley beach, although its been diverted to another road in light of the road blockages. We arrive at stanley early afternoon. The area, devided into bays - such as repulse bay, blackwater bay and finally stanley. There are beautiful small towns with beaches and ports. We walk through stanley plaza into the promenade which is full of cute places to eat. They actually resemble an english seaside town and there is pleanty of english food on offer - including fish and chips. We spend the afternoon walking along the promenade, browsing the alleway markets, lazing at the beach and have some coronas and food in 'smugglers cove' - a very english type pub. We get back to the hostel after another diverted bus, claudia waiting to be let in. Few bites of yasmins ear and she settles on my bed for the night.
