The grunter and the Spanish guy go out early and we drag ourselves out of bed to pack and head to the train station for a train to suzhou.
I contemplate a tactical vomit as I'm feeling like utter crap but mange it to the train station.
A local guy asks us if we need any help as we are getting our bags out the scanner (all the train and metro stops have scanners - it's an absolute pain in the arse and I had a penknife with me is not sure what they are actually scanning for if this wasn't took from me) which we accept. He's called dom and ques with us and asks for our tickets. We get on the same train as him to suzhou. I was wary he was one of the people we had been warned about, who offer to show you some tea rooms or show you around and then demand money, but he was actually just a genuine nice lad. He helped us when we got off the train, we thanked him and set off for the bus. We are immediately targeted by Smelly toothless men trying to sell us tickets and offer us taxis, one guy follows us around peering over my shoulder at my phone until a security fella notices and he scuttles off.
No idea what were doing on the bus, we don't have change or anything - a guy behind us lends me 2rmb till I can sit down and find my purse to pay him back.
Yas follows the bus route easy enough and gets us off at the right stop, we walk 5-10 mins to the hostel which is set in the popular 'pingjiang lu' road. Flanked with canals, traditional food places and nick nak shops, it's a good location. The hostel is really really nice and we've got a few girl roommates.
We get some dumpling soup for tea from a tiny local place which costs 15rmb. after a walk down the canals and alleys, we are still rough from last night so we have an early night.
