friday 19th september - day 
guilin
we arrive at guilin station at 11.30 — 2 hours late. unable to locate our hostel pick up we begin to walk to the hostel, which apparently only takes 10 minutes. we start walking and a girl from the hostel spots us. fortunately she didnt wait 2 hours for us..unfortunatley the 'pick up' is her walking us back to the hostel, theres no car involved.. the girls at the hostel are lovely and by the end of our stay, its definately one of the best we've stayed in. 
guilin is a small city set amongst the typical karst peaks found in southern china. the li river flows through guilin and down to yangshuo. We doss around the rest of the day, get some food and sign up for the rice terrace trip tomorrow to longsheng terrace. 3 changes of public transport which looks disaster prone force us to pay the extra for the hostel tour. its 100rmb in, 50rmb each way on public transport, and the hostel charge 230rmb. so for the 30rmb extra, its saving us a lot of bother. its an all you can eat bbq later on, so we sign up for that too. the bbq is lamb, pork, chicken and beef skewers, some veg and a few potato chip things. we sit with a malaysian guy and two japanese girls. the girls are really quiet..one is veggie -not sure why shes at a meat bbq.. the malaysian guy is hilarious so we hang aroud.with him and some american guy for the rest of the night. american guy is quickly nicknamed creepy kev as he talks to mine and yasmins chests and keeps inaproperatley touching my arm. we have a few beers and search for some cake but its a no go. i have a smoothie at the hostel - with nutella but they have made it with yougart and its horrific. we get back to our room and our roommate is bloody creepy kev. we have no luck whatsoever
