Hi Guys,
I hope you are all well. I am currently in a little town called Jasper, in Jasper National Park. It is a beautifull place, right in the heart of the Rockies. Well since my last blog my back has still been bad but I have been determined not to miss out on too much so I am drugged up, on Saturday we went to Wapta River and Waterfall and I managed a little walk and then we went to Lake Emerald which was beautifull, or "AWESOME" as the Americans and Canadians like to say! Hee Hee! I have put some photos on for you!
I also managed to do my paraglide which was the most amazing thing ever. We picked up the guys that were doing it with us and drove up Mount 7, which took 45mins on very narrow winding roads, we were getting higher and higher and I was getting more nervous as we went, although the views were amazing. At the top the guy harnessed me up and then we had to step to the side of the mountain. I wasnt allowed to close my eyes! Yes I asked!! He told me to talk and few steps then I would feel my harness tighten and then I was to run of the cliff!! Eek!! Waiting was the worst. When I did it, it was the best feeling and I felt really safe, like I was floating, although it was strange that my feet were dangling!!
I have a few funny videos and pics of me doing it. In one I am screaming and say "OH MY GOD" as he decided to do twists and turns and it was like on a rollercoaster and my stomach just went. Pete, you cant laugh too much at me......well ok you can, it is very funny and I look very stupid!! Landing was good too, we just had to run along the grass as we stopped and it didnt jolt my back at all!
The next day we travelled up the Icefields from Golden in British Columbia to Japser in Alberta. This is the most amazing road I have travelled on, it took about a day as we stopped at loads of viewing places, it is full of mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls and glaciers. Check out the photos. This is the reason I came to Canada. The views were stunning. The guys did a glacier walk on the Columbian Ice Field but I wasnt allowed to do it with my back as they were not given crampons (think that is the word! Hee Hee!) for their shoes and it was deamed to slippy for me, so opted out and hopefull I will get to do it in New Zealand.
We also saw a black bear sitting by the side of the road eating grass like he didnt have a care in the world or that we were staring at him. He was so cute.
Today we have explored the area a bit and have been to Maligne Canyon and Mount Edith Cavell (named after a british nurse who got shot by the germans in the war for helping people escape) were there was three glaciers and we could get quite close (but not too much as they said it was dangerous incase there was an avalanche!)
Now we are just exploring Japser town. Tomorrow we go back into British Columbia to a Buffalo Ranche and get to go horse riding, before we go to Vancouver for two days and get to sleep in a bed - Yay!! Then this trip is over on Friday and I head to San Fransisco for a few days before I start another tour.
Speak to you all soon.
Love Me!
