It's been two weeks since I've made an update, but it seriously doesn't feel like that long. Time flies by here at IMG. With all the workouts and specific times we have to be places. And since the schedule now has changed, we have to wake up at 6 AM to start running and lifting at 7 AM, the day has been going even faster. We workout at 7 till 9:15, then we'll go back to our dorm to lie down and relax till 11 where there is lunch. At noon I go to the training room, for prehab and rehab with my injuries, and usually I take an icebath also. After I've been with the trainers I leave at 1:20 for the field house because there's study table from 2-3. So the days start off 2 hours earlier, which is both nice and hard. It's nice because then after workouts in the morning, the only thing left studyhall and that's it. The hard part is that we have to wake up at 6 every morning, and if you take a nap during the day, then you're most likely not to go to bed early. But it's easy to do since we now are about 30 people every day. And I finally got me some of my d-linemen! To may o-linemen are strolling these halls without competition! #dlinenation
After everything that has with football and running is over, we end back here at C-dorm, which now is called Champions Hall. Most of the time we just hang around in each other's rooms and talk or else we're probably playing a video game. But then there's times where people is a sleep or left their valuables out in the open(which is their own fault. It's pretty much asking to be hidden away). Let's just say that my beauty sleep was interrupted with someone hair spraying my hair pink. It was an amazing night, and couldn't wait to wake up at 6 AM the next day…..
Even though we prank a lot with each other, it's only because we know each other better and better every day. And what is a group of guys with no competition, pranking and messing with each other 24/7? Exactly.. A group of girls!
Some of the guys found out that I wrote a blog, and they now demanded a shoutout, which they have been bugging me with the past week. So now I'll spend the next few lines to shoutout some of my roommates/teammates.
Joe - Joe is from Canada, and he was one of the first to greet me when I got here. We always argue about stupid stuff, and fight over ridiculous things. Which is awesome! We always manage to be good friends again. Me he's still my boo though. Joe's a junior and he plays TE for the Team.
Eli - Eli is from Minnesota, and he was also one of the first to greet me. Eli is probably one of the funniest guys here! He always has this weird stare when he doesn't like something which is so funny! Eli is a senior and plays OL for our team.
Noah - Noah is from Georgia, I think he's the most sophisticated one. I can't explain you how, but he just looks sophisticated.
James and Tyree - These two people are best explained together. They're both super weird, does weird stuff, says weird stuff, almost every act is weird, but for some reason, it's still hilarious. There's not much more to say about them….
Justin - Justin is from Louisiana. He was here the day I got here but then went home for 2 weeks. He just got back this week. He's the baby of the group (6'7" 340 lbs, sophomore)….. Upperclassman power!
There are a lot of other guys here too though, but they didn't demand a shoutout (yet).
The fun part of being a Dane is America, is hearing people trying to pronounce your name. It's not that hard? It's just Hjalte Froholdt? So over the past few weeks I've gained a bunch of nicknames like yoda, Frodo, yoyo, froyo, yofro, blazer (I still don't know why), and a lot more. And whenever I'm talking with my parents on skype, they always make fun of me talking. I know that Danish is such an exotic and beautiful language.. Yeah that's probably the explanation J
When I was a sophomore at Warren G. Harding, I lived with a host-family, The Welke's. They were on vacation in Myrtle Beach, and then they decided to finish it off, by driving down here to Bradenton and visit me. It was really nice to see them again, since I haven't seen them in over a year. We had a great time, and I'm very thankful to them for driving all the way down here (extra 9 hour car ride). We did what most people do in Florida. We went to the beach! And it was really nice and relaxing.
Even though that all of this is hard and tough, there's one thing that's for sure. I can't wait till season starts! To put on the pads and playing some football with probably the best group of athletes in the nation. The toughest games are going to Monday through Thursday between the D-Line and the O-Line! Can't wait to become the best with this group of guys!
Now it's been three weeks since I left Denmark and my family, and I can honestly say that it's still tough. Luckily I have such a great group of guys here and always something to occupy my time with. And because of the time difference, it's tough to skype back home since they have to go to work the next day. There's a bunch of things I can't wait for, and one of them is seeing my family again.
HF, over and out
