Walker's Travels in Scandinavia 2017 and others
50km, 15-22deg, cloudy and cool, with the forecast of thunderstorms, but we arrived before any rain. The Boarding House on top of the hill turned out to be very nice, new, spacious, clean with good facilities. Did an early morning raid on the Bakery (which was supposed to be 300m down the main road and ended up being 900m away and tucked in off the main road) for brekkie and then headed out just before 9am. Mostly flat today, which was a relief after yesterday. Mornos was in the town square at Westendorf outside the Town Hall, which just happened to have a bakery/coffee shop on the ground floor. Apart from missing one sign, which resulted in an extra km (flat thank goodness) it was a fairly easy and pleasant days ride. Although upon arrival in Augsburg at 1pm we encountered a very busy period with people, cars, trams (the rails can be tricky) and buses all over the shop. However we all survived ok to have lunch sitting in the City Square next to the huge Tourist Info Office. We were then only a km or so from our hotel, (a converted hospital) which is an innovative place attempting to integrate into the surrounding residences and businesses, especially the hospital, by conducting a whole range of activities. Very comfy rooms close to the city. After a quick shower and change we hit the streets and it wasn't long before we encountered our recovery food. Some light rain put a bit of a dampener on our sightseeing so it was back to the hotel for a LLD. Dinner was Greek (first one for the tour) a couple of 100m up the road. Good food and good house wine, well chosen Gunther & Yvonne. As it was still drizzling with rain we didn't stay out too late.
