After Taupo we headed to River Valley in Taihaippi (spelling?) which was a really nice secluded hostel with a ski lodge feel in the middle of a valley right next to a river - hence the name!! In Rotorua we had a bit of trouble getting on the Kiwi Bus as its so busy at the moment, but in the end they squeezed us on and we headed off to Waitomo. Waitomo is a secluded spot and we found it very tranquil staying in a really nice hostel lodge (Kiwi Paka) with fab views over the balcony where we had our first taste of New Zealand cider. After an early rise in Auckland we hopped on the Kiwi Experience bus. En route to Rotorua we drove through the Coromandel Peninsula and stopped off for a sweaty hike from Hayhei Beach to Catherdral Cove and immediately jumped straight into the sea for our first swim in the southern hemisphere.....it was stunning!! Well we managed to get to the airport and eventually fly out of Heathrow despite all of the snow, and land safe and sound although "a little" tired after the flight.
