It was about a 5 hour drive north east from Joberg to Graskop on our way to Kruger Park. The Graskop area is in the Highveld and has some good hikes and stunning views of the Lowveld. We did a three hour hike in a sweltering 35 degrees, stopping halfway at a waterfall and swimming hole. The guesthouse owner has assured us there were no crocodiles in the area so, hoping he was right, all dived in. Bliss! Great walk, didn't see anyone which was hardly surprising as it was sooo hot. Graskop is also famous for pancakes so couldn't carry on without sampling them J. By now the boys had a good sample of beef and kudu biltong. We are pretty happy having the area to ourselves at the moment - which should continue until the 15th Dec when schools are all out. Pretty sure that these 35-38 degree days keep a few visitors away as well - although a humid 28 degree Auckland day kinda feels hotter.
