Have arrived in Tansen our next port of call for 2 nights. It took 6 hours on the bus, the journey was very bumpy and we had to go up and down many steep hills, twisting and turning around the many hairpin bends. I do not like looking down into the steep valleys below, that just drop off the roadside. The driver slowed down the coach so we could see a coach that had gone off the road two days previous with the loss of many lives, not what l really needed! I was not looking for forward to the journey as l was sick all day yesterday and had severe headache from eating dodgy rice lol.
The bus dropped us off on the edge of town, we looked round and could not see any taxis, a couple of young lads in a tatty jeep who could not speak much English wanted us to get in , but they could not understand where we wanted to go, fortunately a guy came along and translated for us, we got in the back of the jeep not really knowing if this was the right thing to do as maybe they would dump us out in the middle of nowhere and take our money! But fortunately after yet another bumpy journey up hill we arrive at our hotel, it is rathet lush , the shower looks awesome a proper power shower. I will try it out later.
The hotel is high up on the hill and we have fantastic views of the farmed terraces and eagles soaring high above, there are also pine forest, so the scenery here is different from what we have seen before.we went for a small walk and came across two huge pigs roaming about, tried to get a photo of their faces but they kept turning away.
Some local lads were playing football, their pitch looked like wasteland with bamboo for goals. I cannot imagine English kids playing on a pitch like that.
We ordered some nepali tea and sat on the terrace watching about 20 eagles soaring below us , totally amazing!
As we are in the middle of nowhere we will have to dine here l am hoping the view from the terrace in the evening on to the town below will be pretty, when l booked hotel did not realise how far from the town it was lol.
