Off to Gingin for the day to visit
Angus and look round his farm.
The first thing you notice is the flies buzzing round your face and believe me they don,t go away. The house is amazing impressed by the hand painted concrete floor throughout. Angus then turned into Masterchef as we watched him prepare quiche and salad from scratch, with various distractions, including tasting eight different olive oils, it took several hours! Mid afternoon in true Cowling style, we ate a very leisurely lunch discussing global warming, banking, world trade etc. At 4.00 pm we were anxious to see the farm before darkness fell, then Beryl ( who had agreed not to ask any more questions) proceeded to enquire "How far do you think that hill is over there". Around 4.30 pm we had strawberries and cream and tea followed by a very informative tour of the farm. Absolutely fascinating. The olive trees, lemons, limes, saffron harvesting, and the guinea fowl helping to keep insects at bay. The pressing and bottling plant were all very impressive, great day. All went by too quickly as we said goodbye armed with olive oil on our journey back to Perth. Tea with Sue and Ruby, Ted and Beryl and lots of laughs. So to bed after a memorable day.
