Hey Folks,
I hope you are all well, I have half an hour to kill before leaving for Bangkok so I thought I would leave a quick update on here.
We have spent the last couple of weeks on the beautiful island of Koh Tao in the Thai Gulf. What a gorgeous couple of weeks it has been! Tom and I have managed to recapture our Aussie tans, and spent a couple of weeks REALLY chilling out. We have been incredibly lucky and had a good 12 days of sunshine, which we are quite suprised at as we are here in the rainy season. It has been hot and humid of course, but the beach has never been more that ten paces away so can't complain!
After getting the overnight coach and boat to Koh Tao we went to our first resort 'Poseidon' on Tanote bay. We spent out time relaxing and doing some activities. The resort was on a quiet bay, and was a very romantic setting which was nice. The snorkelling of the beach was absolutely fantastic.
After 5 nights here we made our was to the mean 'Sairee' beach, which is a lot busier and lined with beach bungalows. After picking our bungalow we headed straight to the beach, which was a 2km stretch of white sand and crystal clear sea!It was perfect for sunbathing and swimming, and had the added bonus of more bars in the evening! We had one particularly memorable evening watching Hamilton win the grand prix, I think there was a(small) pang that we both couldnt have been watching it in England, but we were surrounded by jubilent brits so it wasnt all bad!
We spent the next seven days doing more of the same (swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing, eating and drinking),and are now feeling on quite a high for our next stop...Angkor Wat, Cambodia! Tom and I have both always considered this to be pretty much number onee on our 'top' list of things to do, so we super excited.
First we have to get there though! Having already had a 3 hour boat trip this afternoon, we have a overnight bus now which will get us to Bangkok at 5:30 in the morning, at 6:30 (yes, still AM!) we catch our second bus to Arranya Prathet on the Thai/Cambodianborder which should take 5 hours, then its a hop skip and jump across the border to our a share taxi to Siem Reap (about another 4 hours), and voila Angkor Wat... or probably more like 'Angkor what?' at this point; a good (and very amusingly named) bar that has been recommended to us!
So, stay in touch, see you soon, khop khon ka,
Tom and Liz xxx
p.s. Happy 18th Jenny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have an absolutely fantastic day...Paul, look after her out clubbing!
