After a good flight we arrived in Hong Kong at 8.00am HK time and although we were really knackered from the flight we were still really excited when we saw the skyline for the first time on the transfer. Hong Kong is an amazing city that is both so British and so Chinese at the same time (road signs and buses so British yet constant smell of noodles wherever you go!) We spent yesterday exploring the city: we caught the star ferry across the harbour to Hong Kong Island, which is really hilly and full of skyscrapers - the locals have overcome the problem of steepness by building outdoor escalators and a funicular railway, so we used these to take us right up to the "peak" which overlooks the city - the views were breathtaking! We had a lovely chinese meal at the peak last night before finally retiring to bed, and today we hope to do more exploring before catching a plane to Aus this evening!
