We had a nice lay in to rest from our trek yesterday. Surprisingly, our muscles did not ache.
For breakfast Jay had strawberry and orange flavoured corn crackers and Helen had rice crackers.
After breakfast, we made our way to the Summer Palace, the largest and best preserved imperial garden in China. Jay stopped off along the way to buy a Chinese style pancake from a street seller, it was very tasty. It cost £6 each to enter the Summer Palace. The interior was very big and beautiful, there was a pretty garden inside. We also walked along Suzhou Street, this was a market street along the river with ancient style shops. We finished off seeing the Summer Palace by visiting a pagoda inside.
After the Summer Palace, we made our way back to our hostel, Helen also bought a Chinese pancake to snack on.
For dinner we went to the 'Helen's bar restaurant'. Jay had spicy chicken wings with rice, this was delicious but it was a small portion. Helen had pumpkin cream soup with garlic bread. We stayed for drinks then relaxed at our hostel. We got chatting to a couple called Mark and Holly who are travelling for 2 years. Marck is supporting their trip through playing online poker which he seems to be very good at. Holly also plays and had contributed towards their trip through the money she has won.
