Off to Hoi An via the spectacles of Lan Co beach and the Hai Van pass.
It's raining a bit as we reach Lan Co beach shame really but stop for a paddle and a drink. Back on the bus we start to climb steepley up the Hai Van pass with Lan Co beach getting ever distant some cracking veiws the driver shuts off air-con as he needs all the power. At the summit it is misty and now dropping down towards De Nang with each twist and hair pin the driver likes the middle to opposite side of the road the best, scary!! On the outskirts of Hoi An we reach our Hotel very nice its got a pool. In to Hoi An light drizzle but well humid, taste some local food and head off to the shops. Helen is in her element shopping for clothes and haggling ,she has some lovely clothes made to measure, we finnish day with a beer and some food at number 19 (good food and draught lager which is served from a chilled keg almost on the street) and share a cake on the way back. Next day we're off to the beach on bicycles with baskets via narrow tracks and lanes its super hot. Cau Lai beach is beauuutiful stop sunbathe swim and go a bit red.Brisk pace back as Helen's got a seamtress appt. and then a cookery course. I nervously go for a haircut but they do a top job. Helen tells us she'd had a ace time at cooking class over a beer then I give Helen a backy back to hotel very very bumpy. After breakfast Helen has to shoot back to tailors on the pushbike. Delayed flight from De Nang to Ho Chi Minh City.
Hoi An is a great place with a mad market loads of fine tailoring shops beautiful and interesting buildings a great atmosphere .We'd come back!!
