Up early helen goes to tailors to pick up new clothes she's well pleased!! Off to De Nang to catch a plane to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City )Everything is delayed so after a bumpy flight we arrive in Saigon. Hotel is quite plush we`re on 9th floor right at the top.Because we've been delayed it messes up plans .All 12 of us get cyclo tour of city with restaurant stop off Helen has a 'mare with food order,dog food soup yuk!! The rest of cyclo tour is fume filled disaster with beer breathed cyclo riders demanding tips. Evening 5 of us go to a covered market eatererie and try out local fayre superb !!Ben Thanh Market top grub! This city makes Hanoi look tame! To cross the road here you have to hold your nerve , step into the oncoming traffic and walk slowly as if suicidal and all the vehicles seems to dodge by . Get back to hotel ,decide to go to place next door for a coffee,scan menu ...,frog porridge, blood cockerel cocktail, pigs brain with clams, pond snail with lemongrass,stewed stomach of pig and salmon's head steamboat ...we finnish coffee.We spend half an hour chatting to a Vietnamese -american eating street food very entertaining he hadn't been back for 25 years.Helen asked him about the war he was quite candid.
