MONTREAL
11th July onwards
Get on my bus at Toronto, I'm quite excited because I heard rumours that there'd be a huge group on the bus, but instead ended up with the most typically unsociable groups of people; a couple on their HoneyMoon!!!!! a group of cliquey Australian girls and luckly another lone traveller, in the form of a 40 (looking) year old Swiss woman. Party time. .....second we got here though I just new it was an amazing City, Just minutes from the hostel a road was blocked off for some sort of festival ( a corona festival from what I could gather?!) we then learnt that there's pretty much ongoing festival all summer here- and not english style drinkasmuchasyoucan festivals, ones that include all the family!...
DAY ONE: Explored, the streets were blocked off from cars and each shop had a stall sprawling with stuff browse through (I resisted, even though American Apparel clothes were cheap as dirt...It was a proud moment..) carried on walking, walking walking til I got to the comedy festival- which was hilarious, free shows here there and everywhere!
DAY TWO: RAIN. Not good, but I made the most and went to an exhibition - oh yes, very intellectual- saw a Yves Saint Laurent Exhibition, lots of lovely elegant clothes- ironic because I don't think I had ever felt as scruffy in my trainers and rain mac!! Bit depressing because it was literally bucketing it down- this is why I left sheffield!! It's following me I swear... Later (after a few hours or ten hiding in the hostel) me and two of my roomies ventured out to the comedy festival again- and c'etait superb I must say (just as funny as yesturday if not even better) I was in stiches, lots of random sketches, men with vegetables in nappies getting little gullible wide eyed children to feed them brown liquid from baby bottles (you had to be there) acrobatics, men eating balloons (!) etc etc....
DAY THREE: Better weather, went out and explored old Montreal, went to a museum and did the whole history thing and then explored some more, was very interesting.
All in all I'm loving Montreal, Just need to brush up on that french so I can move in!!
