I have yet another new batch of poeple to meet as I join a new tour to ottowa. On the way we go through Algonquin National Park, I've never been to anything like this before, it's like a mini safari. We drive through all sort of freely roaming animals, mostly bison (sounds like a kind of snake but thankfully is a type of deer). Th driver opens the windows and doors so that we can feed the animals with carrots as we creep past them in the bus. I feel like a ten year old again, rustling around in the carrot bag, it's good fun.
We then arrive in Ottowa about 3 or 4 and have a quick tour of the capital. It's very clean and orderly, as you'd expect but has a lot of character and it's small city vibe is appealing. Later that night I meet up with a girl I hadn't seen for 2 years who I met on my last Canada trip- crazy ay? Along with some other new friends we go for food and cocktails. We spend the night in Ottowas 'Jail Hostel' which is, as the name implies an old jail. Bit weird- we were sleeping in real old school cells which had barely has a lick of paint their original days. There were also lots of ghost stories but surprisingly we didn't see or hear anything unusual.
I spend the next few days getting to know the City. I also have to relocate to another- half built hostel, it's very choatic and messy but has a great friendly feel to it, I spend the last night eating piles Home made sushi in the hostel patio- made by a fellow hosteller who was japenese -very unexpected but delicious!
