We arrived at the Iguazu falls 3 days ago after a 22 hour bus trip from Rio.
In Rio since our last post we went to a brazilian futeball game (soccer), which was awesome. It wasnt really a big game as far as futeball goes because it was between 2 Brazilian teams (Flamengo & Atletico). Flamengo being a Rio team, the poor Atletico fans were greatly outnumbered. Fortunately Flamengo won (2-0), i think if they lost it could have got messy afterwards. Everyone was patted down and thoroughly searched on their way into the game, yet once inside you could buy fireworks and other explosives with ease. There was massive explosions going off during the whole game but especially when Flamengo scored. At one stage the Riot police came out to control the crowd because at half time no one had scored and things were getting a bit tense.
The next day we explored sugar loaf mountain and also wandered around Copacabana. It was distinctly quiet on the beaches, it was nothing like the typical Rio beach shots that you normally see. I gather that around xmas, the place will be stonking.
On the bus the next day for the 22 hour ride to Iguazu. The bus was very comfortable, we got off feeling quite rested.
We stayed in a Hostel near the falls which was really nice, it was on a farm. We spent a day on the Brazilian side of the falls. It gave a great overall view of the falls.
The next day we crossed over the Argentine border and have visited the falls again today (on the Argentine side). The 2 sides of the falls give very different views of the falls. The Argentine side allowed us to get a lot closer to the falls and makes you realise just how impressive they really are.
This afternoon we get on a bus (for 20 hours) for the trip to Buenos Aires. We will arrive at Midday tomorrow and will have 3 days to look around before we hop on a plane and fly home. We will fly into Brisbane at 8am on Friday 7th.
