Tuesday 18th - a lovely day, mid 20s and a bit overcast. The morning was spent strolling around the area, Rue de Cler is the adjacent street and is famous food market area. I thoroughly enjoyed looking in every shop, cheese - so many! Meat, fruit and veg, bakeries, patisseries, in fact everything you could imagine food related. I then tried out the metro and went across town changing trains on the way. It is very easy as everything is colour coded, very clean and trains every couple of minutes. I headed back for a quick lunch in my room before being collected to go to Monet's garden in Giverny, an hour travel from Paris.
The bus was comfy, a 10 seater and there were Irish, Canadians, Argentinians and me. The driver kept us informed along the way and it was a pleasant trip. When we arrived we had 2 hours to look around and meet up. The gardens were magnificent, everything was in bloom and the water lily pond very beautiful. I strolled around the gardens and the house and it was a lovely relaxing afternoon. Although there were heaps of people there it didn't seem so. The area is so big that there isn't any need to feel crowded. The house is also lovely and there was plenty to look at. I went for a coffee which is so far the only disappointment of the day. It was disgusting , out of a push button machine so I abandoned it and had an icecream. Creme Brûlée and it tasted exactly like it. Delicious.
We headed back to Paris and I was tired after a day of walking. I went back to La Terraces for dinner, once again delicious food. Melon and Prosciutto to start then Moules Mariniere. The mussels were tiny but every one cooked to perfection. They sure know how to cook there. So after a long day back to the hotel and bed.
