This week was pretty relaxed. After I registered for classes on Monday and toured Adolfo Ibanez, I had no other obligations this week! My school is very close to my house; it's about a 10 minute walk. It's a very small university with only two main buildings with classes. I am taking 4 classes; one in English and three in Spanish. I am totally freaking out! The classes I am taking in Spanish are with Chilean students, which mean that the professors won't speak slowly and I am going to die! Hopefully I can manage it because I have to take these classes in order to graduate next semester as planned. Wish me luck!!
Some highlights of the week…
I spent Wednesday in Reñaca lying on the beach… Absolutely gorgeous there. It's a totally different feel here now because technically summer is over and all the tourists are gone. The previous week the beach was packed and Wednesday there was no one to be found; which made for a great beach day because we had it all to ourselves.
Friday I went to Concon (25 minutes north of Viña) with Austyn and Mackenzie. We had a delicious lunch at a restaurant right on the beach. I had chicken, egg and rice soup with a salad. Mackenzie got a dish with tons of different types of fish, it was delicious and I was definitely a little jealous (see pictures). Then we went horseback riding on the beach. It was sooo fun!! My horse took me all the way in the water and then we galloped the whole way back to the stable. It was absolutely gorgeous, but my butt was very sore the day after. I am still having trouble sitting down!
Today (Sunday) I went to a garden in Viña with my family for an asado (BBQ).It was a beautiful area with tons of huge trees, flowers, ponds with brightly colored fish, and geese. We cooked TONS of meat (BBQ's in Chile pretty much consists of meat and more meat) and explored the entire area. Take a look at the pictures it was so beautiful!
Tomorrow I start classes…UGH. I only have classes Mon/Wed/Friday. Here they have each class once a week for about 2 hours, so I have one class Monday, one Wednesday and two on Friday. Claudio, the other Chilean student living in my house, has class at the same time as me tomorrow so we are going to walk there together. I'm nervous because I don't even know where my classes are yet. It's very different here; classes can change rooms' everyday so you just have to check as to where they are when you get to school. I can almost guarantee that I am going to get lost. But the good thing about this week is that we all leave Thursday night to go to Pucón, Chile, and that means I am not going to classes Friday! Pucón is in the southern part of Chile and has a volcano, lakes and various other things. I already signed up to go on a canopy tour, hike the volcano and go horseback riding. Here comes another fun week in Chile!
