Sergey Posad
What a day! Had this experience before but its always cool. It's basically a 'Russian Experience Day out'.
Sergey Posad (pronounced Ser-gay Po-sad with a hard 'g') is a little city, and they call it a city, about 1.5-2 hours out of Moscow city centre. It's out into the countryside and into the forest. You arrive at this lady's lodge, her name is Sveta, and have 'Blinnis and jam and tea' (pancakes!), then head off a further 20 mins into the forest for a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the forest and munchies by the fire along with quite a lot of vodka and some silly dressing up in local outfits Mike has these photos and is refusing to give them to me so I can't put them on here I'm afraid
After this you go for a longer, faster sleigh ride followed by tobogganing (I've no idea how you spell that!) This was hilarious. Mike ended up covered head to foot in snow as his feet were on the ground kicking up snow as he came down. He blames it on 'heavy legs being so tall'. Sophie and I reckon he's just not flexible as our legs were just as heavy in proportion to our bodies!
This lasted about 4/5 goes before we were exhausted from climbing the hill again and totally drenched we decided it was time to return to Sveta's for a well earned Russian lunch. This was quite hard as most Russian food has some sort of meat in it and Mike and Sophie being vegetarians caused a small issue but they coped. Although a lot of stuff that came out was made with mushrooms which apparently Mike doesn't eat either so poor Sveta didn't really know what to do with us
It all ended amicably and we headed on our way back to Moscow to change and head out to dinner……..more food!
Mike whimped out on us after our hard day so Soph and I went out with Mum and Steve and this other family they know here to Café Margarita. A wicked little place with about 8 table and live music. A real 'join in' affair! This was followed by Sophie and myself heading to a bar with a 'New Rave' band with Rowan and Melissa (young ones also at dinner). Very good night, not sure it was 'new rave' but we got pissed and danced and had a laugh and had the hangover the next day too!!
All in all a pleasant day!
Until the next time! Some mega Russki Lovin'!
