Hayley & Holly On Tour 2006
Hello Everyone,
We have arrived in the country where the sheep out number the residents- we are in New Zealand. As we have had limited access to the computer i will quickly fill you in on our last day on Sydney.
We started the day off with a spot of shopping- yes shopping and both of us brought two items each- shock of all shocks!! We took a trip round to Darling Harbour and enjoyed some more of australias fine wine with a spot more people watching. We then returned for our final meal in the Fountain Cafe where we realised we had dined 3 nights in total- opps, but we cannot be held accountable because the food was yummy and the portions were more than generous!!
The following day after a brutal 5:30am wake up call we made our way to the airport for our journey to New Zealand. The avaition service we got was not up to our usual requirements- firstly there was no persoanl television screen, we only got feed a sandwich once (we were on there for three hours) and we had to walk across the tarmac to get into Christchurch terminal- its shocking!!! The views when were landing were unbelivable or as we like to say breathtaking! There were snow capped mountains peaking through the clouds, green fields as far as the eye could see- marvellous!
Our hostel is fantastic, as Hayley put it very well it is like staying at your aunties house. Its clean and tidy, got a lovely big kitchen, comfortable sofas and a whopping great big friendly dog called Murphy. Its much appreciated after the madness that was the Pink House Hostel in Sydney.
We have just spent our first day in Christchurch walking around the city and relaxing, preparing ourselves for the mammoth tour of New Zealand- i think you could easily spend months and months here discovering the place. Christchurch is really nice and olde worlde, it has a river Avon and a tram service and very quaint looking buildings. We then had a starbucks and settled down to some people watching- had a magician on one side who was unicycling with people on his shoulders whilst juggling and a preacher on the other side saying nasty things about Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings! A interesting combination.
We are now settling down to some Friends and a New Zealad soap for the evening.
We will be in contact soon, though it may be less frequent once on the road.
Take care, missing you all
Holly and Hayley
