We arrived in Ica after a 12 hour bus journey (it was only supposed to be 10 hours!) it was so hot when we got off the bus! We got a taxi straight to Huacachina (10mins away).
Huacachina; surrounded by mountainous sand dunes that roll into town over the picturesque lagoon. Just 5km west of Ica, this tranquil oasis boasts graceful palm trees, exotic flowers and attractive antique buildings.
We hadnt made any arrangements for accommodation so the taxi driver dropped us at a hostel. After an inspection we decided it was disgusting (really dirty beds!) so me and Joe went to find somewhere else. We found a lovely little hotel with cheap dorm rooms and a lovely swimming pool! So Joe went back to get Craig and our bags and just ran out of the other hostel!
We checked in the hotel, grabbed some food then spent the rest of the day lying around the pool. It was so hot and we are so glad to finally be out of altitude and have some sun!
That night we headed to a local bar a few door down where we had a BBQ and 2 drinks for 20 soles (about £5) we got chatting to some lads (2 from Ireland 2 from Wales) we had already met one of the lads John in La Paz. We spent the rest of the night drinking and chatting (the barman from the bar took a real liking to the boys!) For such a small town it was mobbed with people (and police) the barman told us everyone comes from the next town Ica to party! About 2.30 Craig headed off to a club next door with the lads and me and Joe went to bed!
