Railay Beach
Mark: Another sunny day. Another day on the beach. This time it wasn't west beach but Phra Nang with TJ & Kayla. The wind was pumping today and there was nowhere to escape its clutches. A few strategically placed rocks on the corners of towels and problem solved. About midday TJ and I went exploring in the rocks below the right hand mountain. TJ had been here once before with his family and he said there was a cave in the mountain where you could hike through to Railay beach. Needing no further explanation we set off swimming the short distance to the rocks. After a short scramble up to about 18m we realized there was no way over the rocks and into the cave mouth from our position. Back down we went. After another look we saw a possible way through some bushes and over the rocks. Back up we went. The bushes turned out to be thorn bushes and not ones to back down we charged through them acquiring a dozen scratches and cuts all over. There in front of us was a nice path leading left to the cave mouth and right back down to the beach... aaah, so that's how everyone gets up here then! The cave was pretty awesome and ran deep into the mountain. Little window holes in the walls allowed sunlight reflected off the ocean to dazzle and shimmer along the cave walls and roof. Unfortunately neither of us had a camera... Soon we came to a place where you could go deeper into the cave and come out on Railay beach side. We could feel the air flowing through the opening. Unfortunately we didn't have any flashlights and it was pitch black in there... Back down we went, to the girls. And all this with a cut up foot and no plaster... haha.
We decided to go back to Lucky Restaurant for dinner. Once you find a good spot it's always best to stick with it. 4 squids later and some beer Leo's we were on our way. I went back to our room and fetched the Hong Thong whisky/rum blend and we moved to the Last Bar decking and continued the party there. A live band cranked up. We ordered some sheesha. Met some 'green' South Africans who seemed to talk way too much kak. Midnight came and as we all had early morning ferries to catch, we called it a night.
