Koh Tao > Koh Phangan
Mark: Up at the crack of dawn, we waited for our taxi in the rain. No waterproof bag cover meant my bag got wet, but Kim was a bit cleverer than me!! Caught our taxi followed by a looooong ride on the Songserm ferry (cheapest option at 2hrs) to Koh Phagnan.
Having no accommodation plans we were going to wing it after having a quick bite for brekkie. After arriving at the ferry pier in Koh Phagnan we were mobbed by Thai women trying to entice us with accom options! I got a bit swept away and our brekkie plans went out the window and next thing we were on the back of a bakkie off to Haad Gruad resort, with the promise from the rep that if we didn't like the resort then they would take us to another resort (Malibu Beach Resort) we had already eyed out. Looked around Haad Gruad (which was crap) and then they refused to take us anywhere when we wanted to leave! After forking out another 200 TBHT they took us to Malibu - which was in turn also not what we were looking for. Grabbed a bite to eat and phoned up Ocean View Beach resort in Haad Khom - which turned out to be paradise. Excellent cheap wooden bungalows on the beach with a restaurant & chef from heaven! The half moon party (south island) was on whilst we were there, but we decided to give it a skip and opt for a bit of chill out time up north on the island at Haad Khom. Rented a scooter towards end of the day with intention to check out a bit more of the island tomorrow.
