Chaing Mai
MARK: We finally found out today that guys really do make better chefs… Tommy (our Thai cooking school teacher) picked us up from our guesthouse bright and early and we drove out to the Chaing Mai Thai Farm Cooking School. We chose this school because you get to go to an organic farm outside the city and you pick all your ingredients fresh from the farm.
Yellow Curry; Phad Thai; Thai vegetable soup & Mango with sticky rice were on my menu for the day to make. Kim chose Green curry; Chicken and Basil coconut soup; Spring rolls & Pumpkin in coconut soup. Each dish Tommy explained exactly how to prepare and afterwards we all sat down to eat. I surprised myself with how good my curry was… I think Kim was even more surprised. I hope this doesn't mean I'll have to start cooking dinners... I'm happy doing the washing up!
Maagies vol it was definitely oogies toe! We spent the rest of the afternoon / evening lazing in our room and then we had a dinner of leftover food we cooked earlier and headed off to the night market. More successful than previous times we had soon bought 4 shirts for me; bikini and Lacoste vest for Kim and were well on the hunt for watches… Feeling like a rat sneaking around for food in the kitchen at night time, we finally found ourselves in a hidden room behind one of the silk clothing store walls with a vast array of Tags, Rolex, Breitlings… anything really… in front of us and we started negotiating and haggling with a Thai guy who was trying his best to convince us that these were the best copies we would find anywhere… eventually I got a great price as I bought 2 watches from him.
