Hi everyone, we are in New Zealand now and it's freezing! We we spent the first 2 nights in Christchurch and bought ourselves some extremely unsexy coats circa 1988 to see us through the week.  They have proved a wise invesment and may need surgically detaching before we get to Australia!

 Headed down to Queenstown on Thursday and planned to go to Milford Sound (apparently the 8th wonder of the world, and a really beautiful place where they filmed a lot of The Lord of the Rings i think), however we drove for 4 hours then our bus broke down and by the time we were on the move again the road had to close due to avalanche risk and we never made it - gutted! So we spent 11 hours on a bus and saw very little apart from more rainbows and rabbits - I've never seen more of either in my life than in New Zealand, it really is beautiful here.  Our hostel in Queenstown was fairly sexy - we managed to find ourselves a slot in the outside hottub surrounded by 5 hot blooded young men! Ding dong.

 On Sunday we headed to a town called Wanaka which was gorgeous and stayed in a hostel by the lake.  We booked to go horse riding and had a great time on a 2 hour trek on the side of the mountains.  We both found our kindered spirits - Jo's horse got moody when it was told what to do while mine was the laziest of the lot and the only one that needed a smack on the bum to get it moving (sounds familiar hey?!) Had a great time though and in the evening went to a truly bizarre local cinema where we sat on old sofas and ate the best homemade cookies i've ever had!!

 Back in Christchurch now, off to Auckland tomorrow for a quick stopover then headed for Cairns! We can't wait to dump the coats and get back in the sun! Havie and Jo x
