Wake Up (the best hostel in the world!) 19th and 20th
So we are actually staying in the centre of Sydney at the moment! Yesterday was alright...we woke up early (at 10.30am) so we would be able to start our sightseeing day in time for lunch. We checked into our hostel then got the city rail (double decker trains!!!) to Circular Quay. Was pretty amazing as the train slowly pulls into the station and you see the huge harbour bridge and opera house. It feels pretty surreal as that is when you realise that you are actaully in Sydney!
So we walked about 10minutes to get to The Rocks where we had smoothies and wraps. Very yummy! Then when we were heading back to the opera house we stumbled across a chocalatier. We both bought extremely sticky chocolately cakes and truffles then sat on a wall and munched away. It was heavenly! Until a seagull family came along and wanted some as well.......
Anyway because it was a cloudy day we decided to go shopping instead rather than get lots of pictures with grey skied backgrounds. So we got on the city rail again in search of Oxford Street. The guide told us this is the main shopping area so we got off expecting huge towering departemnt stores, throngs of people and lots of clothes, shoes and accessories. Instead we found ourseleves in the seedy red light/gay district with lots of bondage shops and cyber sex cubicles!!! We decided all the shops must just be further down the road so we walked a while before giving up. Plan B was to get the bus to Bondi Junction where there was Oxford St mall. When we got there it was almost as dissappointing as Oxford St itself. We decided to make the most of it and spent 20mins in the supermarket, getting smoothies and giving up and going back to the hostel.
That night we had chinese, saw a movie then went to bed because we were knackered. Hopefully have a better day tomorrow!!!
 20th April in Sydney
Today was put aside for shopping...luckily we found a mall last night about 20mins walk away so we headed there again in time for lunch. I enjoyed a very nice 'pad thai' whcih was a good start. First shop we went to was Target which is kinda similar to Primark so invested in two new vest tops. Then we went to 'Forever' and i got a new 'going out' top. The other great shop was 'Diva' where we both bought lots of earrings and necklaces which we will probably lose before we get home!!!
You might be thinking that we are missing out on the cultural side of Syndey what with shopping and sitting in another global gossip but you would be wrong! Tonight we are off to the centre of Sydney to try taking photographs at night instead. Its another cloudy day today so figured the harbour may look more impressive at night when it is all lit up. So we are off to expereince the centre of Syndey at night later and then hopefully find somewehre to boogey till dawn!
Tomorrow we will try and tick of some more of the 'must-see sight' before heading back out to Coogee.
