I no longer hear the music, oh no no no no
My headphones are completely busted! aw man:/ luckily it doesn't cost more than 50 000 to get new ones:)
So anyway, I'm in Yogya right now! But first I have to write about my last days in Jakarta. On friday night I went to have sushi with Jeff, Rosa and their friends. The problem was that we were going during the worst rush hour, which means taxis take forever to move from place to place, ojek's are a bit faster but they can really name their price especially if there are two white people trying to get somewhere (I was going with Jeff). So we took the city bus, really cheap (just a couple of thousand rupiah, couple cents), and they have their own lanes so it was quite fast, but the routes are so confusing I don't think I could take one on my own. Well, I'll say that Tokyo metro traffic hour has nothing on Jakarta bus traffic hour! The buses were really full, it was preeetty difficult to hold on and stay up since the speed was crazy and there were a lot of turns. And I got groped during the first minute. but we made it to Senayan City.
I left a bit early to go to the poolparty. It was in an area called Kemangi, where there are lots of bars and restaurants, and quite a many students, travelers and foregners. Once we got to the right street, my ojek driver stoped to ask directions. Many times. Turns out on this long long street the same numbers go around more than once. I didn't see a trace of a poolparty anywhere.. and my driver kept following me around while I was trying to look. Then I saw a blond girl heading down the street and I thought I'd ask her if she knew something about it. She didn't, but she was heading to a bar to see her friends and asked me to join, so I did:) In the bar there were an Indonesian band playing all western covers, mostly very corny ones:D Well, they did play some songs that I love, like I'm yours by Jason Mraz, Starlight by Muse and No woman no cry by Bob Marley. It was all very... strange:D But I ended up having a great night! You can never know what's gonna happen really, that's what I love about this:)
I headed towards Yogyakarta yesterday night. The trainride was quite comfy. Sometimes the train would stop though, for no apparent reason, and sometimes speed like crazy, then stop really suddenly with a huge noise like we actually hit something:P I reached Yogya before 7 in the morning. I saw the volcano Merapi on the way, glancing in the horizon<3
My host, Wulan, is the cutest little Indonesian girl! She speaks good English, too:) She took me around to see the city. We had a great breakfast/lunch: lotek. It's a veggie dish with peanut sauce, rice pudding and chili. I took mine with only one chili and it was spicy enough for me already. Wulan told me she once heard one guy order it with 31 chilis! Crazy people:) Btw the dish+drink cost 9000rp! Like 70cents! Later we went to the movies and after I hung out on my own. It started raining like crazy and luckily I got a ride home on a motorbike from a local boy I met. The streets got immediately flooded so there was a lot of water splashing around when we drove back. cool:D
Okay time to get dinner! Tomorrow I'll head to see the Borobudur and Prambanan temples, at 5am too. Hope it doesn't rain:)
