Oh well, oh well
Such a great couple of days! Thursday night I met up with my guide for the green canyon, Deni. He ended up showing me around already and we cooked dinner afterwards, also got quite tipsy on some local rice liqueur, kilin. And he tried to teach me to do magic tricks, what a waste of time:P
Then thursday morning we headed to the green canyon. First we went through the village (there are about 5000 people living here) and I saw how they make brown sugar out of coconut flowers. Sweet! Then Deni took me to see traditional wooden puppets and how they are made. Really beautiful and detailed, and the maker even gave me a small puppetshow with them. In Indonesian, of course:)
Theeen we went to a beach to swim and have lunch. I practised on climbing to coconut trees:P Of course I sucked at it! But Deni climbed up to get me a coconut to drink with lunch. After that we took a boat to the green canyon! Soooo beautiful!! For the last part we had to go swimming. YAY! The current was very strong but there were some ropes to hold on to while swimming, and later the rock walls. Only that on the walls there were thousands of teeny tiny transparent baby crabs, gross.. And you had to crush a few every time you took support from the wall:S But it was very nice. I even climbed on a cliff and jumped right down into the beautiful green water. It was only like 3 meters high but still it took me a while to get the guts to jump. I'm really happy i did it though cause it was really and adrenalin rush:) Going back was cool too cause we got to bodyraft down in the powerful current. Whoa!! Then we went to a centre where they gather turtle eggs and and let the baby turltes grow a little in captivity so they have a better chance surviving in the wild. So taking care of the species, I love it! and I got to hold the babies too, and the bigger turtles as well:) After I took it easy and hung out with a Spanish guy Lino who stays at the same place as me.
Today I went trecking in the jungle with Deni and a Swiss girl called Sabina. Exhausting but very lovely, I saw a lot of monkeys, a scorpio, deer, huge butterflies.. And we went to a big cave where there were of course bats, but also.. a porcupine family!! We fed them some peanuts.. awwww sooooo cute! Swimming in the salty tourquoise water afterwards was heavenly<3 I love the sounds of the rainforest. So many crickets, so many creatures all around...
Tonight I'm taking a bus to Jakarta, and then again to Padang in Sumatra. Looking for cheap flights now though, cause it'll be at least a 20h busride from JKT, then again 20h to Lake Toba too... hmmm :P
Ps. I'm so happy I came to Pangandaran istead of for example Bali! No tourists, real culture, about 10 beaches and beautiful nature..
